Do you have an interesting class or student project dealing with an environmental issue or topic? Come showcase your project at the Spokane Youth Environmental Conference!
Student’s projects should tie in to this year’s conference theme: Living the Green Life. It’s a good way to bring environmental science issues to a local level and understand how these issues affect the Inland Northwest.
There are three ways to present a project at the conference:
- Session Presenter: You/your group can share an environmental project using overheads, slides, computer slide show or a video. A maximum of three students may present on a single project.
- Poster Exhibitor: You/your group can create a display of your environmental project to showcase during the conference “poster session.”
- Other Presentation Formats: You can also choose to present your research project using a creative presentation format, such as a skit, newspaper, photo essay, book, website, documentary or newscast.
Conference attendance is limited to:
- Students displaying a poster or giving a presentation at the conference
- Students who have participated in a class project being presented by other students from their class, or
- Students who completed a project in class but are not presenting at the conference.
You've decided you want to participate? Great! Follow the steps:
1. Teachers must Pre-Register - Deadline, March 2, 2012 a. Teachers submit a completed Pre-registration Form by March 2, 2012. b. Individual students are encouraged to participate, even if a class does not, by filling out the Pre-registration Form.
2. Get Started on Project a. Review Project Guidelines and Project Ideas for helpful hints. b. Review Example Superior Projects to see what others have done.
3. Submit Abstract - Deadline, April 13, 2012 (only one abstract per project) a. Complete the Abstract Working Word Document. This form will assist students in the development of the Abstract. 4. Evaluation The submitted online abstract forms will be reviewed and projects will be selected for the conference. Check the abstract evaluation rubric to see how your abstract will be reviewed. You and/or your teacher will be notified of the selections.
5. Signature Form (Word) (PDF). This form serves as a permission slip as well as notifies us whether or not we can take your photo.
