Teachers & Students

Do you have an interesting class or individual student project dealing with an environmental issue or topic? Why not showcase your project at the annual Spokane Youth Environmental Conference?

Thisyear we are challenging the students to have their scienctific research project tie in with the conference theme, Go Green.  It's an interesting way to bring a issue to a local level, and see how Going Green may be improving the health the Inland Northwest.

There are three ways to present a project at the conference:

  • Session Presenter: You/your group can tell students from other Spokane-area schools about your environmental project using overheads, slides, computer slide show, or a video. A maximum of three students may present on a single project.
  • Poster Exhibitor: You/your group can create a display of your environmental project to show other students during the conference "poster session."
  • Other Presentation Formats:  In addition to a poster or PowerPoint presentation, you could choose to present your research project using a creative presentation format, such as a skit, newspaper, photo essay, book, website,  documentary or newscast.

Conference attendance is limited to:

  • Students displaying a poster or giving a presentation at the conference,
  • Students who have participated in a class project being presented by other students from their class, or
  • Students who completed a project in class but are not presenting at the conference.

So, you’ve decided you want to participate, great!  First, teachers must complete a "Pre-Registration" form by January 30, 2009.

Then, students must submit a "Project Abstract" form by March 27, 2009, for each project.   The submitted  "Call for Participation" forms will be reviewed and projects will be selected for the conference. You and/or your teacher will be notified of the selections.

Along with the "Abstract" form, every student must turn in a "Signature" form.  This form let's us know whether or not we can take your photo.

Before completing the form, read the following information regarding projects and criteria:
