Teachers and Students

Do you have an interesting class or student project (s) dealing with an environmental issue or topic? Come showcase them at the Spokane Youth Environmental Conference!

Students projects should tie in to this year's conference theme: Ideas, Investigation, Innovation...For a Better World. It's a good way to bring environmental science issues to a local level and understand how these issues affect the Inland Northwest.

There are three ways to present a project at the conference:

  • Session Presenter: You/your group can share an environmental project using overheads, slides, computer slide show or a video. A maximum of three students may present on a single project.
  • Poster Exhibitor: You/your group can create a display of your environmental project to showcase during the conference "poster session."
  • Other Presentation Formats: You can also choose to present your research project using a creative presentation format, such as a skit, newspaper, photo essay, book, website, documentary or newscast.

Conference attendance is limited to:

  • Students displaying a poster or giving a presentation at the conference
  • Students who have participated in a class project being presented by other students from their class, or
  • Students who completed a project in class but are not presenting at the conference.

You’ve decided you want to participate? Great!  Teachers must first complete a "Pre-Registration" form by February 25, 2011.  New this year, all forms (Pre-registration, Abstract and Signature) open as PDFs, you can complete on your computer, print and submit to conference coordinators.

Students must then submit a "Project Abstract" form by April 22, 2011--ONE FORM PER PROJECT. The submitted forms will be reviewed and projects will be selected for the conference. You and/or your teacher will be notified of the selections.

Along with the "Project Abstract" form, EACH STUDENT must turn in a "Signature" form.  This form let's us know whether or not we can take your photo.

Before completing the forms, read the following information regarding projects and criteria:
